The Institute is pleased to have published a groundbreaking report by Professor Imre S. Szalai, the Judge John D. Wessel Distinguished Professor of Social Justice at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. The report examines the use of arbitration agreements in the workplace by the top 100 largest domestic U. S. companies, as ranked by Fortune magazine. These are the most successful, powerful companies in America, with combined annual revenues totaling over 7.6 trillion dollars. Among other key findings, Professor Szalai’s research demonstrates that 80% of the Fortune 100 have used arbitration for workplace disputes since 2010. Of those, nearly half also prevent their workers from joining class or collective actions against their employer.
